I'm Ali - born & raised in Los Angeles, but soccer has taken me all over the world. I'm currently the captain the New Zealand National Team and Angel City FC. I've represented New Zealand at five FIFA World Cups, most recently at the 2023 Women's World Cup, which was played at home in NZ - where we captured our first-ever World Cup win! I've also represented NZ in four Olympic Games. After being drafted in 2010 from Stanford University to play professionally in the US, I won two national championships stateside before heading to Europe. I then played for FC Rosengård in Sweden, Chelsea FC in England, and FC Bayern in Germany before returning to the US to play for the Orlando Pride in 2020. I then joined Angel City in 2022 - the NWSL's hottest club that is also doing great work to grow the women's game. I'm a five-time New Zealand Player of the Year and was twice nominated for the FIFPRO World XI.
I'm also a certified Health Coach and have a passion for all things food. Off the field, I've hosted Just Women Sports' Off the Ball media series and am developing a plant-based cookbook and video series with my former teammate, Toni Pressley. All in all, I aim to use my platform as a professional athlete to help create accessibility to healthy food options and advocate in elevating opportunities for women.
My family is everything to me - truly my day ones.
I am nothing without the trust of teammates & the support of our fans.
