About Ali

I'm Ali. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, but soccer has taken me all over the world. I had the chance to represent New Zealand at five FIFA Women's World Cups and four Olympic Games, earning 163 caps along the way, the second most in Football Ferns history. Being part of New Zealand's first-ever World Cup win in 2023 is something I'll never forget.

After Stanford, I began my professional career in 2010. I played in the United States and in Sweden, England, and Germany, with clubs including FC Gold Pride, Western New York Flash, FC Rosengård, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Orlando Pride, and Angel City FC. Coming home to Los Angeles to become Angel City's first captain was especially meaningful to me.

I retired at the end of the 2025 season. Soccer is still a huge part of my life, but now I get to experience it in different ways. I'm a studio analyst for NWSL on ION, an analyst for Prime Video's NWSL coverage, and part of CBS Sports' soccer coverage on Attacking Third and UEFA Women's Champions League Today. I co-host Time Wasting with Kelley O'Hara for Just Women's Sports. I also work with Angel City as its first Commercial and Creative Partner through the Player Futures program.

Outside of soccer, I'm an owner of the San Francisco Signal, a League One Volleyball team that begins play in January 2027. I love seeing the opportunities being created in women's sports and finding ways to be part of that growth.

I've always had interests beyond the field, especially health, cooking, and advocating for equality. I co-wrote Girls Gone Veg, a plant-based cookbook with my friend and former teammate Toni Pressley, and I continue to work with brands and organizations whose missions mean something to me.

My family, teammates, and the people who have supported me along the way are the reason I've been able to do so much. I'm grateful for that, and I'm excited for what's next.
